About this experience

Perhaps you already know exactly what you want to experience in Puerto Rico. Or perhaps you simply know what your family enjoys, how much time you have and the kind of day you would like to share. Either way, you do not need to design the itinerary yourself. Tell us what interests you, who you are traveling with and what matters most to your group, and your private experience is thoughtfully shaped around the places, stories and activities that make the most sense for you, with the same personal guidance, preparation and attention that define every Bucketlist journey.

What Custom Really Means

Designed How You Want to Experience Puerto Rico

A custom experience does not mean randomly connecting attractions on a map. It begins by understanding the people traveling: what interests you, how active you want the day to be, how much time you have, what you have already seen and what would make the experience especially meaningful for your group.

From there, Puerto Rico can be approached intelligently. History can be combined with food or rum. A waterfall journey can be designed around a family that wants beautiful natural settings without an unnecessarily difficult hike. A couple may want a slower coastal day, while cruise guests may need a carefully planned experience that makes meaningful use of limited time and protects their return to the ship.

The result should feel personal without feeling improvised. Your itinerary is thoughtfully designed using firsthand knowledge of Puerto Rico, proven routes, realistic travel times and an understanding of how different destinations work together.

Curated Before It Is Customized

Every private experience begins with the same principle that guides Bucketlist Tours: the places included should deserve your time. A waterfall is not selected simply because it appears on a list of attractions. It should offer the beauty you came to Puerto Rico hoping to experience while also making sense for your group, the route, the weather, the terrain and the conditions that day.

The same is true in Old San Juan. A custom history experience is not made better by pointing out the greatest possible number of landmarks. It becomes better by selecting the places that matter and the stories behind them. That is the difference between assembling an itinerary and curating one.

Curated for American Citizens

Years of personally guiding fellow American travelers throughout Puerto Rico have provided a clear understanding of the details that often determine whether a day merely looks good on paper or actually feels good while you are living it: realistic driving times, clear communication, comfortable transportation, appropriate pacing and honest information about what each activity requires.

Your custom experience therefore does not begin with a blank page. It begins with years of firsthand knowledge, then adapts that foundation around your interests, available time, group and expectations. Puerto Rico remains authentic; the experience simply becomes more thoughtfully suited to the people discovering it.

One Island. Many Ways to Experience It.

The important question is not how many activities can fit into a day. It is which combination will create the best experience for the people traveling. Your custom journey can focus deeply on one part of Puerto Rico or thoughtfully combine experiences that complement one another:

  • History & culture, and Old San Juan
  • Rainforest, waterfalls & mountain communities
  • Beaches & coastal landscapes
  • Bioluminescent waters after dark
  • Afro-Puerto Rican heritage, rum & food
  • Snorkeling, private boating & more

When a Custom Experience Makes the Most Sense

A custom journey is especially valuable when different needs, interests or time constraints have to work together: three generations traveling as one family, cruise guests with only a few hours available, couples celebrating something meaningful, seniors who want depth without unnecessary physical demands, or travelers who have already visited Puerto Rico and want to explore beyond the experiences they have had before.

It also makes sense when your interests cross several categories. Perhaps you want history but not an entire historical day, or nature without spending hours hiking. A private experience creates room to balance those interests without forcing everyone into a standardized itinerary designed for strangers.

FAQ

Questions About Custom Experiences

Do I need to know exactly where I want to go?

No. You can come with a complete idea, a few interests or simply tell us what kind of Puerto Rico experience you hope to have. Part of the value of a custom journey is helping determine which places make the most sense together.

Can you combine several types of experiences?

Often, yes. History, culture, nature, coast, food and other interests can sometimes be combined when geography and timing make the combination worthwhile. We will recommend against combinations that would make the day unnecessarily rushed.

Can you design an experience for children and grandparents together?

Yes. Multigenerational groups are one of the situations where a private experience can be especially valuable, because walking, activity, vehicle time and pacing can all be considered before the itinerary is finalized.

Can you create a custom experience for cruise passengers?

Yes, when timing and destination distances make a safe return to the ship realistic. Your ship's name and departure time should be included with your request.

Can you accommodate mobility concerns?

Many experiences can be adjusted, but accessibility varies significantly by destination. Tell us about mobility concerns before the itinerary is designed so realistic options can be recommended.

Do I have to know how to swim?

Not necessarily. Some applicable water experiences can accommodate non-swimmers with flotation equipment and personal assistance. Other activities may have different requirements, so this should be considered while designing the itinerary.

Are meals included?

That depends on the specific experience. Your proposal should clearly identify what is included and what remains optional or paid separately.

How is custom pricing determined?

Pricing depends on factors such as duration, group size, pickup location, transportation requirements, activities and any third-party components included in the experience.
